Energy: most prominent issue in American Politics

By the way... I just wanted to convey to you an experience I had here in the US.

For the past three days in a row, on my way to school/work and back, I tuned on to C-SPAN Radio and NPR. C-SPAN basically covers Hearings, and other events in the US Congress, as well as other developments related to the US Government in gerenal. NPR is the acronym for the National Public Radio - the US version of the BBC.

What was striking, and what I'd like to convey here, is that over the past three days, in relatively random times, and almost without exception, both stations were covering developments and events related to energy, and oil in particular! Republicans, Democrats, Think Tanks, Talk Show Hosts, etc.... Almost every body who's anybody is the DC Area is talking about energy these days.

I thought the new hot topic was impeaching the president... and getting cheney & rove to resign.

I have just visited www.tayyar.org for the second time in my life. I can summarize it with: "Aoun is always Right". Everyone else needs to shutup and listen to what he says and respect him cause he is always right. If you disagree, then you are protecting the corrupt and you are buying people or you are easily bought.
Not to forget, he is almost holly and he never makes mistakes and he never ran away to France after he let Syria in. He was on a break or vacation and he was fighting from his house in Paris to make Syria leave Lebanon.
Further more, neither him nor Lahoud had anything to do with the dead army soldiers on the 13th of October 1990.
He is against sectarianism but is the best christian candidate and has more than 70% of christian votes for him and more than 90% from the other sects.
He believes in democracy but no one should be elected but him and if the parliament is against him in majority then they don't represent the majority of the Lebanese anymore and if they don't give him more than 50% of the ministries, then the governemnt is inadequate to rule or represent the people.

Can someone please tell him, he needs to go back to school and learn how to count at least. Can someone else tell him there will be no parliamentary election before the 2009 and that there will be other candidates and they might be elected and he might not be the next president.

Can someone ask him simply: WHAT DID YOU DO FOR LEBANON ????

1. LIBERATE IT ??
2. BUILD A BETTER ECONOMY ??
3. BRING HARMONEY BETWEEN THE SECTS ??
4. SPREAD DEMOCRACY ??
5. BUILD ITS INFRA ??
6. MAKE ITS ARMY STRONGER ??
7. MAKE PEACE WITH ITS NEIGHBOURS ??
8. GIVE IT A BETTER INTERNATIONAL PROFILE ??
9. PROMOTE POLITICAL DIVERSITY ??

I GUESS HE WOULD FAIL ON ALL THOSE AND ACTUALLY WIN ON:
1. DESTROYING EAST BEIRUT
2. DESTROYING THE MOST POWERFULL CHRISTIAN MILITIA
3. DESTROYING THE ECONOMY
4. DESTROYING THE LEBANESE ARMY
5. GIVE SYRIA MORE POWER IN LEBANON
6. ALLY WITH IRAQ, THE ENEMY OF EVERYONE IN 1990
7. ALLY WITH SYRIA, THE ENEMY OF EVERYONE IN 2005
8. ALLY WITH HIZBULLA, A TERRORIST ORG IN THE EYES OF THE REST OF THE WORLD
9. OPPOSE DEMOCRACY UNLESS IT MEANS HE BECOMES PRESIDENT
10. LIVE WITH HIS PARTY ON DONATIONS
11. PUT A 1/2 TONGUED UNEXPERIENCED SON IN LAW AS A SPOKESMAN.

I COULD GO ON BUT I AM TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHY WOULD SOMEONE HIRE SOMEONE WITH SUCH A RESUME TO RULE A COUNTRY.

anonymous.
I really couldn't find not even one mistake you stated in ur comment. There are many points that if we want to state we would use up all the space in the blog.
You know I had this 1% feeling for him that he should come back to lebanon...but as soon as he arrived and started screaming at the people. come on!!! I mean look at El-Hakim when he first said his word after being liberated. You see the damn difference. If the aounists meant that 70% of the christians then we would say okay fine maybe its true..but 70% of lebanon..well yeah thats why he has the majority members in parliament. dont forget Franjyieh is now "watany" and krameh is wanted in the North badly.
As for the "Live with donations"..trust me they are all proud of it. they are proud that even his clothes are given by donations which they think shows that he didnt steal money from the government! allaaaaaaaaaah..
one more thing www.elaph.com is now in a payroll with hariri because the posted how rediculous aoun is. the 14 Feb. 06 was less than 500,000 and everyone who went were paid by hariri. as for 14 feb 05 it was them who had 700,000 and the rest were from other parties.
Tla3 mn kayeny..tla3 mn rasy..khlesna man we are not animals..we have brains to damn THINK!
haha and the 41 members in Tayyar who left in Akkar, because of religious discrimination, were paid by Hariri. Give me a BREAK!!

I have supported Hariri for the past 2 years and voted for them in Beirut and been very active with the 14th Feb/March movement. The funny thing I am still waiting for my check from Saad Hariri, can you please check with Aoun and his supporters if they see that check somewhere around soon so I can cash it?
I am from the north of Lebanon and it was rumored we got tractors as gifts to vote for him. The Future movement donated 4,000 tractors to the people of Akkar, Damn, where did those 4,000 tractors go? I don't see them on the road !!
I would expect every second car in Akkar to be a tractor by now.

Well look this is it man. everyone paid in the elections. we aren't saying no one paid.please read what i said again. yes aoun in the elections paid to every lebanese in the gulf 500 dollars and a free ticket to vote for him or franjyieh.
And all what you stated isn't considered as a reply back to me because it doesn't have to do with www.elaph.com, doesn't have to do with the 700,000 ppl, doesnt have to do with the 41 members in Akkar who left the tayyar...
As for the 4000 tractors you are mentioning...well my friend..I'm from the north and from Akkar also and as you said "RUMORED" ;) have a good day man..

I am ready to bet 1000 $ this time that if Aoun becomes president, he will run away to the Iranian embassy after he starts war with Cyrpus.
This guy has a talent for attacking the least possible opponents.

I have question...why are they winning in the university elections?
I mean doha can u answer this question..

Anonymous said...

one more thing..in tayyar.org why dont they mention the syrian intervention of the lebanese territory? or are they okay with it? i mean come on it should be breaking news

you guys are all going to hell for bashing The General.

However, the General, like Jesus, will forgive you because He knows that you know not what you do or say.

what a brilliant exhange that was between anonymous and a.m. Raja&Doha, I would copy it into a post if I were you. Classic. Funny. And sooo right.

The only reason I posted as Anonymous is once back in 1989 i spoke against his royal highness of democracy, the enlightened general and it got me into his jails for interrogation. The only thing I said back then was "I am sorry, I am busy and can't go to Baabda to parade under his feet".

If he can't tolerate an MP who is against him, how could he tolerate a population?
IF he can't tolerate somone missing his parade, what democracy is he talking about?
Maybe burrowing some good techniques from Bashar, can get him 99.99% voting from both the people and the parliament.

previous anonymous,
heheheheh yes boogy man general is going to scan all the blogs and totures all those who said anythign bad about him! fear the general fear the jazzar :-)

At least we know you hate him because of what you claim he did to you in 89. Everything else follows from there.

Raja,

I fail to see the point of the original post.

As to the Aoun/anti-Aoun comments, how do they follow from energy and NPR?

Anonymous said...

i have no clue what NPR is !! so I posted about General Aoun and his FPM = free porn movies

Anonymous said...

hahaha...it's free because the movies were donated..hehe..loool..
Okay i have a significant question..The General keeps saying that he will rescue lebanon economically and politically and socially...well really we really would like to know what he will do what is in his agenda..
for example Nasib Lahoud have stated points that he will do if he got to presidency. I mean all I keep hearing is that Aoun will rescue lebanon, aoun will heal lebanon in 4 months..
hehehe well really its the hottest topic in lebanon now..so i really dont know what to say about "energy".
I wonder what will the TAYYAR put in their TV when they get the license. Aoun received a call, aoun is having lunch, aoun is drinking water, aoun is sleeping now, aoun invited his relatives, aoun is playing "counter strike", aoun is playing "tarnib". lool..or will it be "roleplay" like Sawtelghad news..or in the lebaneseblogger A.M attacked aoun..lol.mmm i wonder!!

I guess his plan goes as follows:
1. Force everyone else to resign.
2. Ler everyone be an FPM or they are corrupt and will be tried.
3. Force the dollar to go down or get rid of it and use the euro instead.
4. Force the oil prices to go down or else we will use the solar system panels on our cars.
5. Force all arabs to give us donations or else we will make a federation with australia.
6. Force Shiaas to put somone different from Berri or else we will give the seat to Jehova's witnesses
7. Support Netherlands in the worldcup and any team that wears orange, even if its their socks that are orange
8. and my favourite, force everyone to wear orange or else the rest of the colors will be banned from the market.
