Dahyeh In Beirut Being Shelled!

Israeli warships have started shelling the southern suburbs of Beirut and Israeli plan raid is attacking the fuel tanks at the international airport.

To Lebanon: my heart is with you.

Update: Israeli warplanes dropping hundreds of leaflets threatening of a brutal attack on the southern suburbs and Ain il-Rimmeneh, Hizbullah strongholds.

Update: Some are saying that Dahyeh has been hit and some say not. I don't know myself; still stuck in the beltway.

"Nobody knows how many rebellions, besides political rebellions, ferment in the masses of life which people earth."

A friend from beirut is telling me leaflets are being dropped above beirut and some areas in the south... I don't know the content of the leaflets but I assume it's along the lines of "leave the city"

my heart is breaking also

for the Israelis being held by animals

and the Lebonese people, held hostage by the Heballah animals also

this is not a war Israel or Lebanon wanted

Israel Lebanon and Jordan and Egypt have to control Syria and Iran

So far, 52 lebanese and israeli civilians dead. more than 100 lebanese and 115 israelies civilians hurt. Children hurt on both sides. Wonderful.

I can't see how "burning" beirut will help, other than adding to the casuality count.

This is totally insane.

Israel doing what is it is good at: shelling civilian areas and crippling a defenseless country with overpowering arms given to them by the US..

The Warriors of Zion showing their true metal..

When it was a fair fight in South Lebanon they had their asses handed to them by an adversary with disproportionably inferior arms…

Go ahead, revel in your cowardice…all this barbarity will not make men out of you…

Joe: it's Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. To cry "Havoc" was the let the soldiery know they were free to loot, pillage and plunder. That's not what the Israelis have done, nor is it likely. There may well come a point, however....

"Israel doing what is it is good at: shelling civilian areas and crippling a defenseless country with overpowering arms given to them by the US..."

Who hides within civilians?

Who's the coward?

Is that the way Lebaneses reward Israel because it retired from Lebanon?

In practice you are saying to Israel that it is better to have a buffer zone there.

Leaflets are preferable to bombs, but it's pretty clear what's coming.

Here is a SNIP from the news:

Lebanese Minister for Social Affairs Mila Mawad on Thursday said the government was preparing to announce its cease-fire proposal to Hezbollah and Israel, under which Hezbollah would be required to free the IDF soldiers it captured on Wednesday. The proposal does not mention the release of Lebanese prisoners.

When asked by a reporter why Lebanon does not disarm Hezbollah, Mawad said the organization was brought into the government to grant its members the feeling they Lebanese.

HA was BROUGHT IN to the Lebanese government to Grant its members the feeling they Lebanese? Can someone expand a little bit on what this actually means?

I understand Simon Peres has just been quoted as saying: “We are not fighting against Lebanon; we’re fighting against Hezbollah…Hezbollah is helping Iran, not Lebanon.”

Let us pray that that is the case.

18 years... quite an extended time of "ass handing". Evidently it was so much fun though that they're trying to bring Israeli ass back to Lebanon.

According to Fox News:

"For your own safety and out of our wish to avoid harming the civilians who are not involved, you should refrain from being present in areas where Hezbollah exists and operates," said the leaflets signed the State of Israel.

according to http://lebop.blogspot.com/, the leaflets which were dropped in arabic, roughly translate to: "Out of our concern for your safety, we advise you to not be around any areas where Hezbollah is known to operate."

Following the terrorist actions of the Hezbollah, which has reached the prospérite of Lebanon, the Israeli army will act in Lebanon for all the duration necessary in order to protect the Israeli people.
For your security and in order to avoid harm to civilian people who are not implied with Hezbollah, avoid being in places in relation to Hezbollah.

It is necessary that you know that the continuation of the terrorist actions against Israel is a double edged blade for you and for Lebanon.

ahem, israel said we are not fightinag against Lebanon..bullshit...Hizbullah was stupid and his kidnapping is wrong, but Israel's reaction is a WAR, Pure aggression and terrorr and totally out of proportion..and unfortunately for both sides it will only bring more violence..it is 2 soldiers for God's sake, and now a whole country is crippled, people lives are shattered..I am not defending the kidnapping act, but give me a break Israel is not hitting Lebanon!!!!! the airport is a ciivilian airport and the only way out of the country by air, the bridges to south cut leaving hundreds of thousanhds of CIVILIANS stranded, and waiting if Israel will decide to commit mass genocide or not..
Avoid places where Hizbullah operates? do u think people know where they operate? do u think people choose to be where the bombs will hit?
IDF is one of the strongest in the world, it can destroy Lebanon in less than a week and it is proving it..Lebanese army is not equipped to fight..and stupid hizb have few missiles that represent no military power to speak off...
just for history, Israelis should know that Hizbullah did not and would not have existed, or gotton the support it has in some parts of lebanon if it were not for Israel' ruthless aggressive and unhumane treatment of Lebanese people in the past..Again I say it does not justify the provocation, but this Israeli reaction is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much and beyond self defense..
I pray for every soul in Lebanon, and for that matter for innocent civilians in Israel as well

RDPS said...

I could not agree more.

And really the kidnapping of soldiers was a threat and announced six monthes ago...
.. so really if israel believes that anybody that does not like what they do is a terrorist they should stop negotiating with most of the world population,...

When Israel withdraws, her enemies only reward her with rockets and suicide bombs. She is seen as weak. So now Israel will reward IT'S enemies with invasion because strength is the only thing her enemies respect.

Has Hisbollah dropped any such similar leaflets on northern Israel? I think I already know the answer to that question.

To Anonymous,

Stay calm, Isreal will not attempt to do mass genocide. civilians will get hit, as hizbalah infrastructure is located in some part, in civilian areas.

Israel created Hizbalah by entering lebanon, but that was because, israeli villages got shelled from the lebanon side.

It is self defence, it is out of proportion.

I am an American Labanese, I follow the news very closely. I bleed inside watching the destruction of human lives both in Lebanon and Israel...The more i follow the news the more i am confuse. Someone from that area explain to me or shed light on some of the inhumanity that is going on with all these terrorist attacking innocent people all over the world? What do the terrorists want? What is the undelying violence in Iraq? If Israel is willing to live with Lebanon peacefuly and Lebanon wants the same, why does and how does one man decide to take the whole country into war. Awaiting for any info to make sense of this atrocity against Israel and Lebanon. Concerned and confused. What does Iran get out of this besides diverting attention from the nukes he seeks? What does Syria get out of destroying Lebanon? Why does Hezbolla get involved and take away attention from the Palestinian Issue?
