Iran-Syria Axis Fully Materializing

I don't know what to say anymore. Sayyid Nasrallah is still alive and declaring an open war. Where is our President? Where are our Ministers? Prime Minister? Members of Parliament?

All these institutions and the guardians of these institutions are obsolete at this point. Nasrallah is leading the show. He's defying everything and everyone. He is assuming the position of the guardian of the Prophet's Family, against all odds. This is not about Lebanon anymore; this is about Nasrallah's pride.

The Iran-Syria Axis has just fully materialized!

An Israeli warship was hit on the coast off of Beirut, the same warship that hit Hizbullah's headquarters which housed Nasrallah.

Lebanon is a hostage and all the Lebanese people are a pawn in the hands of the few.

Update: Rumours in the streets of Saida are that the Israelis have landed a ground force. The rumours are unfounded, but the city is terrified!

Update 2: The story has just been clarified by NTV. It appears that reconnaisance personnel from Hizballah noticed Israeli frogmen (i.e. Naval Commandos) on the shores of Saida. They then reported their suspicions to the Lebanese Army. The Army then responded by sealing the area, and searching it thoroughly. The Army then announced that it was all clear and withdrew. They either did not find the frogmen, or the frogmen never landed in the first place.

Update 3: The latest reports (or maybe rumors flowing around in Lebanon) is that Israel will destroy the last major land route leading outside of Lebanon within the next 24 hours. (i.e. they are going to hit the road to syria that goes through Tripoli).

Update 4: Hizbullah attempted to hit another Israeli warplane, but missed and hit an Egyptian ship instead.

"Nobody knows how many rebellions, besides political rebellions, ferment in the masses of life which people earth."

well Nasrallah says teh ship is sinking. Israel says minimal damage and no injuries. I am sure that the truth, as usual, is right in between.

"Hezbollah would also strike "beyond Haifa and what is beyond, beyond Haifa," Nasrallah said. He made reference to a new strike on an Israeli naval boat in Lebanese waters. The warship was lightly damaged in the strike, and there were no injuries, the IDF said. "

Joe do you think that a WWII rocket can seriously damage a modern warship?

Solomon2 said...

This is not about Lebanon anymore; this is about Nasrallah's pride.

It never was about Lebanon in the first place. Hizbollah attacked Israel to have a reason to sustain its own existence as an armed force. If you want to be an actor and not just a pawn or human waste, there is only one course to take.

Anonymous said...

The IN probably welcomes the rocket attacks on their ships. Better to have Hezb shoot their (finite number of) rockets at armoured ships than civilian homes.

I think that the hit, no matter how insignificant, was completely unexpected by everybody, including the Israeli Navy. You can try your best to minimize it, but deep down in your heart you know that it was a hit, and that is all I am saying.

Anonymous said...

Khaled,

here's the snippet about the marines from msnbc for what that's worth ;p

Military officials are discussing contingency plans for what appears now to be the inevitable evacuation of U.S. citizens.

One official says that the most likely plan would be to use the assets from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based out of Camp Lejeune. The 24th MEU is currently in the Red Sea near Jordan, conducting bilateral and unilateral training exercises.

The most likely candidate from the MEU would be the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima. It resembles a small aircraft carrier, complete with helicopters and light attack aircraft.

One official says that the military is working on the assumption that they would have to evacuate nearly 25,000 people.

It is sad that the government of Lebanon has not had the strength to rule their own nation. A country can not survive when political factions have their own private armies outside of the control of the government.

But often in history there comes a time when the people have simply had enough and they don't wait for their government to act. I see no problem with a Shiite political party, but it is time they are disarmed and the soldiers returned to their country.

This coordinated action of the Syria/Iran axis is a blunder of historic proportion. I have not heard a single Arab country endorse the action. If the Lebanese people cried for help in disarming the political factions, I suspect the world would come to their aid.

It is so very sad. I hope and pray that the innocent people of Lebanon be spared any injury and they find the strength to do what must be done.

1. Are you aware that the Disputed Territories never belonged to the “Palestinians” and only came into Israeli possession as a result of the 1967 six day war in which Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon all massed forces at Israel’s border in order to “push the Jews into the sea”. The Arabs lost and Israel took control of the land. Do you agree that if the Koranimals don’t want to lose territory to Israel, then they shouldn’t start wars? Do you agree that there is justice that Israel, who as far back as 1948 has always sought peace with her far larger neighbors, should live in prosperity - making the desert bloom - while the residents of 19 adjacent Arab countries who are blessed with far more land as well as oil wealth live in their own feces?

2. Did you know that the “Palestinians” could have had their own country as far back as 1948 had they accepted the UN sponsored partition plan which gave Israel AND the Palestinians a countries of their own on land which Jews had lived on for thousands of years before Mohammed ever had a wet dream about virgins? The Arabs rejected the UN offer and went to war with the infant Israeli nation. The Arabs lost and have been whining about it ever since. Do you agree this is like a murderer who kills his parents and asks for special treatment since he is now an orphan?

3. Can you tell us ANY Arab country which offers Jews the right to be citizens, vote, own property, businesses, be a part of the government or have ANY of the rights which Israeli Arabs enjoy? Any Arab country which gives those rights to Christians? How about to other Arabs? Wouldn’t you just LOVE to be a citizen of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iran, or Syria?

4. Since as many Jews (approximately 850,000) were kicked out of Arab countries as were Arabs who left present day Israel (despite being literally begged to stay), why should Arabs be permitted to return to Israel if Jews aren’t allowed to set foot in Arab countries? Can you explain why Arabs can worship freely in Israel but Jews would certainly be hung from street lamps after having their intestines devoured by an Arab mob if they so much as entered an Arab country?

5. Israel resettled and absorbed all of the Jews from Arab countries who wished to become Israelis. Why haven’t any Arab countries offered to resettle Arabs who were displaced from Israel, leaving them to rot for 60 years in squalid refugee camps? And why are those refugee camps still there? Could it be that the billions of dollars that the UNWRA has sent there goes to terrorist groups like Hamas, Islamic Jihad, El Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, or Hezbollah? How did Yassir Arafat achieve his $300 million in wealth? Why aren’t these funds distributed for humanitarian use?

6. Did you know that the Arabs in the disputed territories (conquered by Israel in the 1967 war which was started by Arabs) and who are not Israelis already have two countries right now? And that they are called Egypt and Jordan?

7. If your complaint is about the security fence which Israel is finally building in the Disputed Territories, are you aware that it is built solely to keep the “brave” Arab terrorists out so that they can no longer self detonate on busses, in dining halls or pizzerias and kill Jewish grandmothers and schoolchildren? Why are the Arabs so brave when they target unarmed civilians but even when they outnumber their opponents they get their sandy asses kicked all the way to Mecca when they are faced with Jewish soldiers? Why do Arab soldiers make the French look like super heroes?

8. Please explain why you are so concerned about Arabs, who possess 99% of the land in this region and are in control of the world’s greatest natural resource, which literally flows out of the ground? Can’t their brother muslims offer some of the surplus land and nature’s riches to the “Palestinians”? Or is it true that Arabs are willing to die right down to the last “Palestinian”?

9. Why do you not exhibit the same level of concern for say, people in Saudi Arabia who are beheaded, subject to amputation, stoning, honor killing etc.? What about women who are denied any semblance of basic civil rights, including the right not to be treated as property for the entertainment and abuse of her father, brothers, or husbands? What about the Muslims in Sudan and Egypt who are still enslaved, or the women there whose genitalia are barbarically cut off? How about the oppression of Shiites by Sunnis, the gassing of the Kurds by Iraq, or the massacre of “Palestinians” by Jordan (Black September)? Why doesn’t this concern you?

10. Did you ever stop to wonder how much better off everyone in the region would be if Arabs stopped trying to kill Jews and destroy Israel? What would happen if the Israelis gave up their weapons and disarmed? Would they live to see the next day? But what would happen if the Arabs completely disarmed? You know the answer: They would all be AT PEACE! And if there is no war to rile them up, the Arabs would be forced to look at their own repressive, pre-medieval societies. Why would they want to do that when there are Jews to kill?

11. Have you heard “People who define themselves primarily by what they hate, rather than who they love, are doomed to failure and misery”? Can you see the parallels to the Arabs, who are blessed with land and oil, but still gladly train their children to kill themselves in order to kill Jews? Have you heard Golda Meir’s words to the effect of “There will be peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate ours”? Why do the Arabs hate so much?

"israel has admitted its damage to an entire sovereign nation."

It appears that the sovereignty of Lebanon is a matter of debate. If one is to claim sovereignty then one must at the same time claim responsibility.

The government of Lebanon has claimed they are not responsible for the actions taken against a neighboring country across an international border and so this is also an admission of the lack of sovereignty.

Until such time as the government of Lebanon exercises sovereignty within their borders, any claims of sovereignty with regard to international relations have no basis.

israel's total inability to incorporate, find a peace, or otherwise solve the palestinian/israeli issue over more than half a century is your problem, your self-created problem. since the palestinians are your victims and have lived under your oppression, it has been in your court to solve this. you have only aggressed and whined. it's so - old and tired. and that's just from a non-affected person's standpoint. i'm sure "old" isn't the word the palestinians would use. they know their words are useless to bring about change - obviously.

From a former Israeli soldier.

mmi_gov_il@hotmail.com

Hizballa is playing with fire. Israel is overreacting because we have new goverment that wants to take hard measures and show lebanon that it will not take hizballa resposible and punish whole lebanon civilians for hizballa's dangeras games.
Hizballa is sponsored by iran, and because she lives by the sword the war is good for her and give her justification to exist.
when we have peace (inshalla soon...), hizballa will be only an extremic muslim political movement supported by syria and Iran and will not have the money and power! she will gain power only in war! War and blood and bombings lebanon is hizballa interest to exist.
just think if this is Lebanon interests or not.
this war is asolutly not israel choice, we have left lebanon and we have nothing to there. we have enough problems with the palestinians in Gaza (which we also left to leave there life with no israelis inside...)
but still the extremists Hamas kidnaped soldier and firing daily rockets into israel.

Thank you Doha. You nailed it. Hearing Nasrallah on CNN made me ill, now he's the voice of Lebanon. God, our leaders absence makes us look like a bunch of ass-wipes. Where are our leaders moderate voices. Still after all this, they are afraid to speak out against Hiz. We are is bad as the Palestinians backing Hamas.

That sovereign nation, in her apathy, started a war.

israel's assertion that it has to oppress others so it can remain is, in itself, argument against israel's ability to function as a sovereign country, and for the world community to broker and enforce a solution, including sanctions for noncompliance on israel's part.

and obviously, it sees itself as a superior race, untouchable as it aggresses at will. bullshit. the gig's up.

Hizbollah did not cross a sovereign nation, they crossed occupied land 'shebaa farms' whether it belongs to Lebanon or Syria.

Key word OCCUPIED

"abducting 2 soldiers is not an "attack." it's petty bullshit"

No it was an attack. Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid Wednesday Three Israeli soldiers also were killed in the raid.

A country exists to protect its citizens. Many times more lebanese will die to punish Lebanon for attacking Israeli citizens.

It more than abducting just 2 soldiers my fellow Leb. Open your mind please! Hizbullah has been antagonizing this for a long while. As well, they have been a huge problem for the rest of us peaceful loving Lebanese.

The Blue Line is a border demarcation between Lebanon and Israel, drawn by the United Nations for the purposes of determining whether Israel had withdrawn from Lebanon.

Once again, selective UN support.

Lebanon will suffer for its claims to Shebaa farms which are actually Syrian. Such claims empower HB and the Israeli backlash will hurt.

Hezbollah is Lebanon, the two can't be separated. Hezbollah is part of the lebanese government. Look at the celebrations across Lebanon when the first attack on the Israeli soldiers happen. Sweets and candy like it's a party game. It's not so fun for Lebanon anymore as the bodies pile up and get cremated in Israeli bomb craters.

i can't believe that any "peace-loving lebanese" understands israel's actions. they are, after all, beyond rationality. also the world doesn't, and with good reason.

israel is responsible for israel's actions. they always blame others while they have their fingers on the constant trigger. it's such a convenient reality for a psychopathic society. as i keep saying - the world - is done with them.

the purpose of this is to free thousands if not more, lebanese in israeli jails.

They traded three DEAD israeli bodies for around 400 Lebanese prisoners last time.

Imagine if you were in an israeli jail for mre than 20 years for nothing, just waiting. It sucks.

Israel over reacted the situation, not only destroying what Hariri built but created a huge crises in Middle East.

We can't. Hizbullah's army is stronger than ours. Also, The army is made up of some Shia, they could very well turn to the other side. Additionally, Syria will do everything it can to undermine our ability to rid ourselves of them, essentially, they will turn it into another Iraq blowing up Cafe's and shopping areas before they allow us our own sovereignty.

What interests me is how many of you thought this way several days ago and how many of you are from the usual "Zionist entity" crowd.

I suspect quite a few of you fall in the first category (judging for example from blogger perpetual refugee's posts on some blogs). From Hizbollah's point of view it's probably mission accomplished.

The Israelis reacted exactly as Hizbollah hoped they would, the temperature has been raised sufficiently and noone remembers what happened to spark the whole thing off. Events, and people's perceptions have moved on.

Sadly Hizbollah will be the only winner here. Their capability to endure casualties and sacrifices (yours too, whether you want to endure them or not) is far greater than that of the Israelis. Hizballah kidnapping did not occur on Sheba farms. Check it once and forever. They started to shell towns first, and then attacked the border patrol. It is a casus belli, so we have war. And I do not understand why Israel should take care of Lebanese civilians if Lebanon does not take care of Israeli ones? The only reason of these higher expectations could be that Israelis are inherently better, smarter, braver etc. than Lebanese. That is what you are saying?

How commented to israeli bloggers when Hezballah shelled Israel, kidnapped soldiers last time etc.? Those who didnot have no right to complain now, IMHO.

Turning to a solution. I've seen a variation of this posted before, but how about a) the Lebanese Army commits to maintain it's own border (which is not the same as saying Hizbollah disarms - I appreciate that's easier said than done) b) Israel commits to respect Lebanese sovereignty c) the Israeli soldiers are released d) Lebanese prisoners are released in Israel. Everyone is seen to have won something - Hizbollah is seen to have brought about the release of Lebanese prisoners, Israel is seen to have security on its northern border and two soldiers back, the Lebanese Govt is strengthened and regains effective control on the border.

Unfortunately that equation all adds up to stability. Do you think that's what Hizbollah wants? Groups like this are great at playing the long game. And the long game is to destabilise Israel and re-write some of the basic rules in the region. No matter what the fall-out is.

Please let me start by saying that I already visited Lebanon. For almost two years, I was a soldier situated there. In order to protect Israely citizens, from rogue element of your society. I vowed to myself that I would return one day, when there's peace, to have a picnic at all the beautiful places I've seen. I do believe the peace will arrive, eventually.

But to the point.

There is an american satire movie, called 'Team America'. It critisizes America hard-headedness and brutality while trying to solve global problems, with the good intentions they have, while critisizing the other side as well, who'd rather do nothing in the face of global danger. And it also have a lot of quite amusing songs. Now, the fact that a song is amusing, doesn't make it wrong, or stupid. The one song I find relevant to this situation is "Freedom isn't Free". From the lyrics -

Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free
No, there's a hefty f*ckin' fee.
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?
(Full lyrics - http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/teamamericaworldpolice/freedomisntfree.htm )

The Hizballa is a problem To Israel, mainly, but also to Lebanon. At the very least, you should be considering them a criminal element. Yet, what was done on your side to stop them?
Reading on the blog, I see again and again - "We can't do a thing". Well, who do you expect to do the work for you? And that is what Israel is trying to do now, in part. I don't think anyone really believe here that the IDF can erase all Hizballa from Lebanon. But we expect to pressure you enough to do that. To fight for your freedom. Freedom isn't free, after all.

Please, do something about them. Ask help from your friends, if you need to. But please, do something. I don't enjoy seeing your people suffer. But then again, I do not enjoy seeing suffering on our side.

Islam has never been peaceful. The crusades was a Christian response to the Islamic invasion of Europe and the Holy Land. The Muslims were trying to invade France from Spain. They also stole the Holy Land from the Christians. Even Egypt and Iran were not always Muslim. Muslims are so ignorant of their own culture. The beautiful, advanced Persian culture was wiped out and replaced with this pseudo-Persian Islamic Iran.

Today Muslims are still waging their doomed jihad, against Russian, in the Phillipines, Israel, Lebanon, Indonesia, India the list goes on and on. Such a violent people. People are getting sick of Muslim terrorism. Countries like Israel and India are no longer feeling alone in their battle against muslim violence.

Reading this blog has made me see, that for the most part, all everyone (besides terrorist hezbollah) wants is peace. Our region is sick of war, sick of having to watch our backs every time we go out, sick of watching those who speak out get axed. I wish there was an easier way than this to remove the elements of terror from my country, Lebanon. I know our government is too weak and if the ministers were to rise up against Hezbollah / demand the implementation of res 1559, our country will be in a civil war and we just can't take that chance. I wish Israel would also direct its attacks against the SPONSORS of hezbollah because this snake--no matter if it is beheaded now--will grow a new and stronger head with the help of Syria and Iran.
And to the Lebanese who are wary of what the Israelis are saying (that they don't hate all Lebanese just Hezbollah), is it really so hard to believe ? We lebanese have no reason to hate them either...their response is dirty, violent, much too aggressive, but if it will rid us of the poison in the south then I'm happy for it.

One more thing to add...
it's something that so many bloggers and so many people have said but I'll echo it. In what kind of twisted, undemocratic, weak state can it be "okay" for one group (terrorists in this matter) to decide the fate of an entire country and its populace ? It sickens me. No one asked to be dragged into all out war, as nasrallah recently called it. No one wants to battle...we are tired and broken and all we want is to live life without fear. There are so many prisoners in Syrian jails, by are we going and kidnapping them ? No...because that is not how intelligent, democratically minded people think. I'm so disgusted right now. And more than anything, I'm so so so amazed at how southerners can see the ruined bridges and broken roads and dead bodies and still dare to shout their allegiance to the monster.

lebanese student,

It's a good comment. Israel doesn't not hate the Lebanese people. But there is no such thing as a bloodless war. All wars cost lives. Innocents will get killed if they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. That's why Israel dropped leaflets -- so people would flee! But Israel does not try to kill innocents. Also, consider that a civil war with Hisbollah would have cost Lebanon FAR MORE innocent life and lasted perhaps YEARS. This invasion is a blessing in disguise to you. You should thank Israel for doing your dirty work for you.

Anonymous said...

Well I prefer neither, but a civil war would be the worst option for us. Who will come to diffuse the situation ? No one did before, no one will now. At least if Israel does what its doing (attacks that at least on the outside seem to hurt hezbollah) the eyes of the international community will be on what's going on.

I will not thank israel, but as I said in my last post, a civil war will be the worst possible option for us. I am fine with diffusing Hezbollah, I am fine with what's going on. It's unfortunate that this decision (to kidnap the soldiers) was made without the agreement of 99.99% of the Lebanese public. It couldn't have come at a worst time. But this is war and more than anything, I want Hezbollah out.
What I don't want...is for the war to have inconsequential results for hezbollah. Because we will end up rebuilding, having lost all of our tourists, the economy down, infrastructure ruined...all while the TERRORISTS still exist.

Maybe he has a point, this way Hizbollah gets hit, Israel gets it, some civilians gets hit... but he is safe.. If I were him I would have done the same, as long as I didn't want FREEDOM....

you cant rely on someone else to do your dirty work...

israel from norther israel, i've lived my entire life without the taste of freedom. I was born into war, grew up under syrian occupation, and now we are shackled by Hezbullah. You are not Lebanese--you don't know what will happen if the government so much as utters a condemnation of hezbullah...and our own president is the worse of them all, saying "we are all moukawama." Our civil society, our opposition, is not strong enough to do anything about it. We have become politically retarded by years and years of conflict and militia-minded mentality.
I want freedom, like anyone else. Freedom from the poison of Hezbullah, freedom from regional influences, etc.

Nassar, curse you, and all your likes.

I can write so much about your wrong idiology, but I am sure that every one can see how wrong you are.

Again, just look, Israel wants peace, Syria wants the destruction of Israel,

Although Israel can wipe Syria out of the map, just like we did in 67, just like we repelled their attacks at 73.

"Israel is targeting all lebanese not just hizbollah"

That is because as a part of the Lebanese Government, Hizbollah's actions are regarded as the actions of Lebanon. If you do not want such a response, disarm Hizbollah or kick them out of the government.

Let me put it another way: A faction of the Lebanese government crossed an international border, attacked a killed the soldiers of a neighboring country, and kidnapped two of them. What would you expect a country to do in response to an attack like that?

Hizbollah is a party to the government of Lebanon so their actions speak for Lebanon.

you have to look at comments like "israel is doing you a favor, lebanon" as the propaganda bullshit it is.

in the same breath, it calls itself a victim of your "state-sponsored terrorism." in the same breath, it terrorizes your borders. in the same breath, it bombs your country - invades it by air, land, and sea.

israel - you are no better than the people you call "terrorists." actually, you are much, much worse.

someone from israel - let me get this right. israel debilitated an entire nation's transportation system - because you thought hezbollah would take 2 soldiers to iran????? this is such an outrageous and pathetic smokescreen. is this the now-prevailing story, or have you thought up something better to bullshit us with?

There are only three (3) Lebanese being held in Israeli prisons. One is Samir Kuntar who perpetrated a terrorist attack in 1979 where he murdered several family members on the beach in Northern Israel. He was tried in Israli courts and sentenced to over 500 years in prison (they have no death penalty).

I don't know the names of the other two Lebanese being held.

All the other Lebanese prisoners were released in the Israel/Hezbolla prisoner exchange a couple years ago. Nasralla demanded that all of them be released, of course, but Israel refused to release Kuntar and these other two. After that release there were supposed to be further negotiations in which Israel would release the remaining prisoners and Hezbolla would provide information regarding Ron Arad. Those negotiations apparently broke down and apparently Hezbolla decided they have no other way to pressure Israel but to hold Israelis prisoner and make a swap.

To those of you asking if two soldiers are worth this war I ask: Is the release of Kuntar worth the destruction of South Lebanon?

nassar-syria,
you and those who share your mentality are those who have made our country unliveable. we have a rich history that's been debased to bomb shelters and fear. I hope you will still maintain the words you say when you too face israeli bombs.

Dear anonymous, I am truly sorry that you never tasted the taste of freedom, but you can start a revolution, every great nation once was a scattered nation, full of enemies from the inside and the outside..

It doesn't matter if its 2 soldiers or 2 million. A life, freedom is more worth than a damn highway. Free the prisoners, extend Lebanese sovereignty to the border so there can be peace and Lebanese prisoners can go home too.

Yes, when Israeli soldiers are being kidnapped, Israel will do EVERYTHING to get them back as soon as possible, remmember Ron Arad, he was kidnapped by the Hizbollah, but disappeared, Israel cannot afford itself a second and third Ron Arad cases.

When Arab terrorist, "freedom fighter" as you call it attacks Israel and captured, does the Hizbollah does anything to free him,
no.
the arab terror leaders care nothing about their activists' lives, thats why they send them to suicide, and give a shit about them.

anonymous "you don't know what will happen if the government so much as utters a condemnation of hezbullah"

Who will take more caution when disarming HB, Israel or the Lebanese people? But as the Lebanese government said, it's not the Lebanese army's job to protect Israel from Hezbollah attacks coming from Lebanon.

Anonymous said...

If it were up to the Lebanese people, no soldiers would have been kidnapped in the first place. Do you think we are stupid to make such a move ? But Syria, Iran, and their proxies made the decision for us and we are stuck with the consequences. Instead of being disbanded and disarmed ten years ago, Hezbullah was allowed to "make a name for itself" and to gain a hold in our government while Syria was in control.
And I don't even want the Lebanese prisoners in the Israeli jails to come home...do you think we need more terrorists in our country ?

and who will take more caution when disarming hezbullah ? That's not even a question...Israel can do it with force, and Lebanon can't do it at all.

you didn't answer.

WHY did israel assume anything about TRANSPORT of two soldiers to iran or syria? that makes NO SENSE.

and THIS IS WHY israel has debillitated an entire country's transportation system?

this is a huge cognitive dissonance you're going to have to explain, please.

Anonymous said...

I have nothing to say about that,

that maybe true, but just like Lebanese people had formed up a big demonstration against syria, they can again hizbollah...

Anonymous said...

>>>But Syria, Iran, and their proxies made the decision for us and we are stuck with the consequences.

This is well known to everbody, especially the Israelis. Thus when Hisbollah is destroyed, Syria and Iran will lose the capacity to exert their will on Lebanon. Israel cannot destroy Syria or Iran, but it can destroy their puppet.

The people decide who the government is. When Syria pulled out, and you decided to keep HezbAssad running (or ruining) your country, you sealed your own fate. To be honest, I hope Israel leaves Lebanon in the stone ages. Because your country pretended to act civil while harboring murderers and terrorists. You can't be civlized and do that. So, when all is said and done, Lebanon will be rebuilt in to some that's more than just a façade for terrorism.
As for Islam being a peaceful religion, every single country that Islam was brought to, that is every country in which the majority of people are muslims, are in that situation because muslims declared war, and force converted the populations by the sword.

Israel can destroy Syria or Iran.. Israel has superior technology in every aspect...

Better air force, better artillery, better armor.

hi,
this is a beautiful site.

I feel sorry for the people suffering in Lebanon. I wish I could do something to reduce their suffering.

yesterday I was on a Buddhist retreat in Carmiel area.
We were praying for the peace to be settled in the north border,
when Katiusha missiles landed near, in Magdel-krom (a Muslim village that some of his inhabitants were hurt by those missiles).
we have to send everybody home and the retreat was, of course, stopped.

"WHY did israel assume anything about TRANSPORT of two soldiers to iran or syria? that makes NO SENSE"

Because that's what happen to Ron Arad to the best of anyone's knowledge.

Lebanese student@ Lebanon could ask the UN or NATO for assistance, it could renounce Syria and Hizbollah's assertion that Shaaba farms belongs to Lebanon (and not Syria)... there are plenty of options. It's wrong to force Israel to kill Lebanese civilians.

between watching CNN, reading maariv online and listening to the israeli radio online... i like your site the best. Thank you Doha

oh israel from northern israel,

i only wish it can be so easy. Throw up a couple lebanese flags, make chants, etc...
but remember that when we demonstrated against Syria, we were demonstrating against another state...there are many in lebanon unwilling to speak out against their own people, against their own religion.

it's too complicated for us. give it 10 years...all the ordinary lebanese like us will be gone. and unfortunately, your neighbors to the north will be the same people who have made your lives awful and deprived you of living decently, the same way we've been deprived.
