Raining Rockets

Beirut's southern suburbs sustained shelling all night. It was surprising reading that it actually rained in Beirut. It never rains in July. Never.

Al-Hazmieh bridge which connects Hazmieh with il-Dahyeh was hit. The bridge is under construction and has been hit twice so far.

It's close to 6AM now in Lebanon. Very soon we'll know the number of casualties.

"Nobody knows how many rebellions, besides political rebellions, ferment in the masses of life which people earth."

Israeli,

The Lebanese are not suffering now because of Hizballh's abduction of your two soldiers only a couple of days ago. The Lebanese have suffered and continue to suffer because of your inhumanity to the Palestinians.

Remember we still have 1/2 million Palestinians living in refugee camps because they cannot go back to their country, Palestine because you stole it from them. All of Lebanon's problems stem from this single historic incident.

Hizballah was born as a reaction to your country's invasion and destruction of lebanon over the years beginning in the 1960s and finally in 1982. We would not be in this predicament today if it weren't for the injustice you have visited upon the Palestinians, and continue to do so as exemplified by the most recent surreal madness of your cruelty against Gaza.

So spare us your misinformed sympathy and if you want to do something positive, lobby your government to cease this bestial onslaught on the people of Lebanon.

Better yet, and this is what we would prefer, is that leave this blog alone. This is for the lebanese to check on the latest updates from Lebanon to ascertain news about the safety of their loved ones.

We need to stop passing blame back and forth and work together for peace. There are victims on both sides. We all need to lobby our governments for peace in Lebanon, Gaza and Israel. There is enough blame to go around. It is time we work together for peace.

isn't this the truth? what nerve must they have to come here and spew their tired propaganda. recall the leaflet they rained on southern lebanon yesterday morning, even as they bombed it:

“is hezbollah helping the situation of lebanon?
hezbollah is damaging lebanon!”

(but - ignore the man behind the curtain)

el ray - i suppose that - until israel is willing to take responsibility for and cease its own heinous atrocities, that the whole blanket "everyone's at fault here" is dishonest and self-serving. lebanon is a victim of israel. there is no other way to see it.

putin today declared "it appears israel has a wider agenda" than revenge for 2 captured soldiers. that would be an understatement, but, as you can see, evident and clear the world around. i suppose israel thinks the world is its idiot.

Then I suggest you switch the language to Arabic. However, I will be glad to leave this blog. I stopped reading it a year ago when Hani (or maybe it was Raja) made a post telling me to shut the hell up about Hezbollah. Guess what? Now I get to say "I told you so" - and with that little bit of snarkiness, I'll get the fuck off this blog, since only Lebanese are welcome here.

i wont leave this blog now that i have found it. i dont care what language its in.

we are speaking. this is dialog. every time i have been outside israel i have had many great friends that were muslim and christian lebanese. one of my best friends is a syrian muslim.

and its not about positive discrimination or affirmative action. its just about people connecting and forgetting the crap.

hatred is stupid. there are more pressing things to worry about. the more we can practise peace the more we can build trust. that is really the only ingredient missing here in our middle east. because no one is going anywhere and its time we all get used to it.

for those who oppose dialog, i dont care what you call this post (its not propaganda or ill directed sympathy- its genuine), and know that as my neighbours, i wish you peace and, hopefully, we will see better times together soon.

why doesn't one of you profane israelis start a blog called "let's talk" or something like that.

here you are just propagandists - shallow, hurtful, harmful, and above all - agenda-filled! you never fail to tout the "party line" about how it's hezbollah, not the lebanese, that you are against - as if THAT is justifiable either (which, it's not).

how many times does anyone want to hear how much you love the lebanese people as you bomb their nation over, and over, and over again, decimating its transporation - and therefore - basically killing its infrastructure? what wil it be in a week from now, without good water, food, medical supplies, etc?

you israelis are really something. "programmer" is right - you said you would leave, so go ahead and go. as for the others - it's not my blog, but you really hurt my sensibilities. this isn't a place for you to shit on - it's a place for lebanese and lebanese supporters to gather. you pollute it with this propagandist shit.

I am not Lebanese or Israeli so I dont know the answer to the following 2 questions:
1) How many were killed or wounded in the Lebanese civil war and how much property damage was there ?
2) Could the Lebanese government and army (or that part of the government and army which is not sympathtic to hezballah)
have disarmed hezballah (missiles inclded) and moved away from the southern border without another civil war ?
