WRONG INFO

Guys, wrong info. I was watching a rerun of the news on Future TV and LBC and thought the updates on the bottom of the screen are not part of the rerun. My apologies.

***************************************************************************

A flurry of rockets hitting Haifa. Lebanon is screwed!

Update: They're Katyusha rockets; a Hizbullah stamp.

*******************************************************************************

Update: I'm wounded to see the insults being hurled at me (by Lebanese) in the comment section of the entry below. i'm doing a service to a lot of poeple, keeping the updates flowing.

No, I'm not cozy in a U.S. college campus and I was already alive and kicking when Israel invaded Beirut in '82.

I do not endorse any of the comments on this blog and take ownership of my own words.

The last thing I need to hear is someone claiming to be more Lebanese than other Lebanese. It's not my fault that I'm stuck back in the beltway; I'd rather be with my family and friends back home.

"Nobody knows how many rebellions, besides political rebellions, ferment in the masses of life which people earth."

yikes...that is sad!!

Man I love Lebanon... I know so many people of Lebanese descent growing up in Detroit. I want to go someday! But Hizballah has to go! It kills me to hear of the horror innocent people in Lebanon must be going through now.

Hezbullah is not committing suicide, it is murdering Lebanon.
God this is getting worse by the minute.
And innocent lives are being lost along the way :'(
May God help us! May God help Lebanon!

Doha, I think that's what they call, "the fog of war".

Thanks Doha for the info update.

Y'net is reporting that the IAF has attacked Hizbullah targets in the Baalbeck region, near the lebanon-Syria border.

MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL. Free Cedar is right. Hizbullah is murdering Lebanon. STAY SAFE!!!

ok i'm assuming it's the southern suburbs bc that's the right direction, but anyways it sounds really fucking close. buildings shaking, whole sky lit up etc.

doha we're under attack!!!!!

Would that Hezbollah were committing suicide... they are not. The nation of Labanon (4 million) is dominated by about 26% Shiites that support Hezbollah and/or are members of it.

Prior to the current state of affairs, the remaining 74% (largely Christian and Sunni)dominated the Lebanese political picture. So it's difficult to expect that the million plus Shiite population of Lebanon will stop supporting Hezbollah, and go back to the political back-bench - no matter what Hezbollah does.

That is the shame of this - a million Lebanese Shiites clinging to a terrorist organization - for political purposes.

Look at the similar position of Muqtada al-Sadr in Iraq - his Shiite 'militia' (basically terrorists) undermining a government elected by the people.

Would that someone in Lebanon could find the location of Hassan Nasrallah - and get the information to the right place.

they are apparently bombing 2 locations, damour area and dahiye. friend reports whole area is in flames.

Thank you for your updates, its so helpful. I know the tayyar website is updating too.

Anonymous said...

tayyar.org has a few updates (in arabic). Apparently a bridge connecting Hazmieh to the airport road was hit...

apparently 20km of the damascus road is blown up.

planes are circling bey and periodically striking what seem to be the same locations, anti aircraft fire now coming from everywhere.

If Lebanon's Prime Minister Fouad Siniora wants to see an end to this, he'd be far more likely to get what he wants (a cease fire) if he and the rest of the Lebanese government leans on Hezbollah to release the two Israeli soldiers.

If he thinks that one (cease fire) will come by simply getting world leaders to lean on Israel, he is, and the rest of the Lebanese government are, sadly mistaken.

Israelis-Go f**k yourselves. No amount of Hizballah action can justify the murder you're inflicting on Lebanon.

As for you lebanese commentators-sober up and stop f**king supporting your enemy..You're making me puke...

Anonymous said...

There is a place for people like you, it called the front line. Get off your pc and head there.

It really doesn't matter if Hebollah admits to have fired rockets at Haifa or if fired the rockets and allowed Hamas or Al Queda to claim credit for the rocket attack. Haifa was hit by rockets fired from Lebanon. If northern Israel can't sleep neither will Lebanon. Go to your shelters and be safe.

Anonymous said...

>>>No amount of Hizballah action can justify the murder you're inflicting on Lebanon.

Tell that to the people on the receiving end of that "Hizballah action."

Notice his choice of words though:

Hizballah "action" vs Israel "murder".

cfw said...

ok guys well it seems to be over for now. smoke billowing up though from multiple sources-- i'll upload pics later if i can.

many more bridges are down apparently, and a hospital source says many of the wounded admitted thus far are children.

praying it doesn't continue to escalate... but let me just say now, this response was far too severe.

just heard a low rumble, sounds far away. maybe not over after all.

Anonymous said...

"this response was far too severe."

You have seen nothing yet. Israel means to rid itself of Hisbollah. I would stock up on food and water if I were you.

Anonymous said...

this blog has transformed into a pro-israeli propaganda site.

to think that once, it used to represent something. what a pity.

damn you hizbollah, but right now, damn you israel, stop your bloody attacks on my city.

Anonymous said...

i agree with the anon earlier- this blog makes me puke. very obviously a bunch of daddy's boys and girls nice and warm in their respective american campuses, while beirut is under siege. i bet they weren't even born last time this happened.

i wish they'd hit them once and for all, but so far not one single hizbollah position has been hit, it's all civilian targets: the airport, all the bridges, the electricity.

and, hurrah, the US and israel is calling for syria to intervene back in lebanon.

grow up and smell the hommos, sweet little doha and co.

Anonymous said...

to the anonymous hezbullah supporter...

you say we (Lebanese) are making you puke by supporting "the enemy." I ask you, who is the enemy--the Lebanese who are effectively DESTROYING our country by their provocative actions or those that are acting as a sovereign state should by defending itself ?

btw, what's with all the venom against doha??? she isn't even here right now.

doha is true lebanese to the core. her loyalties are in the right places, don't blame her for random commenters who show up on her blog.

whether hizbollah has caused this or not is no excuse for supporting what israel is doing, or even having sympathy with it. obviously for you just as long as the bombs do not hit your swanky neighbourhood, then it's all ok.
70 people have already died today, including 16 children. how can you people even sleep..
don't fool yourselves into thinking your rhetoric is any more "civilised" as the blind followers hizballah, you'r just immature amateur pseudo political idiots with the discourse of brainwashed militias of 20 years ago...

"Fck u doha" I think you are a Palestinian not a real Lebanese so be quiet and leave our country!!!

sorry little boy, i am not a palestinian, purely lebanese, stuck in lovely beirut where i came for my sister's wedding who's day has now been messed up, a small tragedy compared to the families dead today. i hate hizballah as much as the next man, but if your two-pence mind thinks that a criticism of a foreign country invading you makes you non-lebanese then what can i say...

and to the other anonymous who so blantantly asks if the enemy is a group that unfortunately does represent a large part of the lebanese population, that had in the past major support by most of the population for kicking israel out, or the "foreign country" invading us... it is ridiculous that you actually need an answer but i will answer you nevertheless, when a foreign enemy attacks, all my internal animosities are laid to rest.

when the syrians were occupying lebanon, we kept asking for everyone to unite against them and only then were we able to kick them out. when we united against the israeli occupation we kicked them out. unite, or forever be ashamed for repeating the same petty vision that lead your parents to destroy our beloved country 30 years ago.

and am sorry for being so hard on doha, but emotions are running high here with the scenes on tv and the sound of the planes overhead, and to read this amateur way of blogging just drives me mad.

one last thing, to those insisting hizbollah fired the missiles on haifa in spite of their denial (and god, allah, and yhvh knows they would normally brag about such a feat), why on earth would they blow that card just after they brandished it as a threat against the direct shelling of beirut?

too bad raja isn't here to see how popular his blog has suddenly become, he might just be able to set it back on track.

One good point on the Denials of Hiz. Why wouldn't they claim it when they said they were planning on doing it.

Iran missle...Iranian Revolutionary Guard may have. Question is, where did they launch it from. If from Lebanon, your problems just got worse, elswhere, Israli problems just got worse.

ok you all i'm going to try to lie down for a couple of hours... presumably someone else will step in with updates... though i'm hoping there won't be any!

Lebanon - Our prayers are with you. May the Israelis take care of those asshole Hizzbulahs quickly and free your country from their tyranny.

Don't worry about the tourism. When Hizbullah and Syria are out of the picture you will rebuild and make it all back and then some. Maybe you will even have Israeli families coming to beautiful Lebanon to vacation, and vice versa.

You are seriously mistaken if you think your country is not "occupied" by Syria any longer. Your country is a puppet of Syria/Iran and even has their own people in your gov't (HA). Until you get rid of HA you will have trouble.

To the hypocrite Israelis reveling in the mayhem while shedding crocodile tears on Lebanon:

Again, go F**ck yourselves. You will not last. If only by demographic force, the Arabs will drown you into oblivion.

As long as your nature is demagoguery, you will never know peace, neither will you rest. You will continue to build walls, until you wall yourself in as well. Your end will come by thine own hand. Go ahead kill and laugh. The world knows who you are, imbecile cowards whose best talent is beating and humiliating the powerless.

Anon 11:52 quote, "The world knows who you are [Israel], imbecile cowards whose best talent is beating and humiliating the powerless. " You doth protest too much. Since 1948 tiny Israel has grown up economically and joined the first world without the benefit of natural resources while fighting multiple wars for its survival. Israel has an open free democratic society compared to her retrograde neighbors (Lebanon excepted). I think Israel's success humiliates and shames the insecure reactionary members of the Arab world. Hey Anon 11:52, Israel will be around for at least another two thousand more years. She aint going anywhere. Get over it.

I wish the Arabs would just let nature and allow demographics take its course. The sooner Arabs realize that no act of typical arab stupidity will destroy Israel(without Israel turning the middle east to glass) the sooner the arabs can get back to breeding that demographic time bomb we've heard about for 50+ years.

Anonymous said...

By backing Hizbullah, we are as pathetic as the Palestinians backing Hamas. And i believed we were different.

Anonymous said...

the shame - quote:

"whether hizbollah has caused this or not is no excuse for supporting what israel is doing, or even having sympathy with it. obviously for you just as long as the bombs do not hit your swanky neighbourhood, then it's all ok."

Sure it is - when your country is attacked again and again for decades from across the border of your neighbour without the government of said country doing anything to stop the transgressions, seeing the offending party being elected to parliament and indeed seeing the civilians of said country rejoicing in the streets at the attacks, there is no alternative but retaliation. If anything similar happened in my neck of the woods - Europe - there would be no end to the efforts of the offending country to crack down on the perpetrators and try to reestablish relations with it's neighbour...!

"70 people have already died today, including 16 children. how can you people even sleep.."

Horrible though that may be, you have only yourself to blame for not taking the appropriate action Hizbollah (not to mention that they actually sit in your cabinet!) and doing everything in your power to reassure Israel that things will be set right. Dancing in joy in the streets is not exactly helpfull, either...

"don't fool yourselves into thinking your rhetoric is any more "civilised" as the blind followers hizballah, you'r just immature amateur pseudo political idiots with the discourse of brainwashed militias of 20 years ago..."

Yada yada yada - no reason to respond seriously to such rants.

In the end, most of the (western) world have sympathy for Israel and Lebanon both. In the perfect world, Lebanon would do what it could to crack down on terrorism within it's borders, while Israel would vent it's anger on those who are really to blame, in this case namely Syria.

Nothing will come of the situation however, untill all of the arab world renounces it's allegiance to violence, it's agenda of the destruction of the state of Israel and it's stubborn adherence to anti-democratic political systems.

i have just stumbled on your blog through a link from another blogger in the states. your blog is actually a good read. keep up the good work. who cares about the naysayers. i live in the u.s. and actually glad that i do because of the retarded mentality of the arabs. i hope the supporters of hezbollah are happy with what these guys have done. nasrallah had many opportunities to win over the majority of the lebanese people, and for awhile, he had the respect of many, but of course he fucked that up. way to go "sayed".
thanks for the updates. sometimes the news is accurate and sometimes it is not. this is a human perspective.

The Jews are not the enemy.

The cowards of Hezbollah and their masters in Syria & Iran have brought this upon Lebanon and her wonderful people, just as Yasser Arafart and the PLO brought the death and destruction of 1982.

May the Cedar Revolution arise anew and force the scum that is the scourge of Lebanon (the entire Middle East, actually) out in the open - then give them what they claim to be so desirous of - death.
